Following the bright start to our
year at the Drive in, the Great British
weather took its revenge on us, and the
Club, soon after and right through the
holiday period. However, it looks like we
are now back to normality now with the
course in excellent condition albeit a
little damp.
Our charity, the Fountain
Centre is already benefiting from
your generosity, at the December
Quiz night, Christmas parties plus
members private donations. Thank you all
so much. The Charity Lake on 16th is not
helping the degree of accuracy this hole
demands!!!! So far and with
only limited golf, the yellow Charity
boxes on the bar have identified over
150 golfers who need assistance with
aiming!.
The Race Night, on Friday
25th February, looks like
being a sell out, again in aid of the
Fountain Centre charity.
Sign up on Main Notice board, for the
Captains Pairs Challenge on Sunday March
27th. This is already attracting a big
response. Shotgun start at 08:30am
with prizes in the bar afterwards for the
best 6 pairs who beat us. Mission
Impossible! This is also the first
day of British Summertime AND the
beginning of a packed season of
competition and fun events.Major trophies
to be won etc. so good luck everyone
.
Competition organisers are now in place to
spread the load of running all our events
and most recently Gordon Tiffin, who is now
our Tigers Captain, and Dave Thear who
will manage the entry procedures for those
members who enter Surrey Golf Union
events . We have set up a Rules Advisory
Group to examine all aspects of The
Rules of Golf, the Equalities Act and how
it may affect us. The
Group comprises Eddie Wheeler, Wendy
Martin and Nick Mace and they will
advise the Main Committee on changes we
may need to recommend to our Members.
Look out for major improvements to the
Members website in the near future, long
overdue and in response to your requests.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who
have volunteered to assist in the running
of the Member's and Captain's events for
this year.
